What is Scar & Stretch Mark Camouflage?

Scar and stretch mark camouflage is a specialised paramedical tattoo technique that deposits custom-blended pigments into the skin to reduce the visible contrast between scar tissue or stretch marks and surrounding skin.

We also use inkless serums for any scars or stretch marks that are dark or textured.

This treatment is ideal for:

  • Surgical scars

  • C-section scars

  • Breast surgery scars

  • Tummy tuck scars

  • Hip, thigh & buttock stretch marks

  • Weight loss or pregnancy-related stretch marks

  • Self-harm scar camouflage

  • Trauma or injury scars

Each treatment is completely customised to your skin tone, undertone, texture, and healing profile for exceptionally natural-looking results.

Scars We Can Help With

Whatever your scar's story, you're welcome here. These are some of the scars Melinda works with most often. Every scar is different, so we'll always give you an honest view of what's possible for yours.

  • Facelift scars: Softening the fine lines around the ears and hairline so they blend with your natural skin tone. (Camouflage tattooing; inkless if raised or darker)

  • Tummy tuck scars: Helping long abdominal scars sit more quietly against surrounding skin. (Camouflage tattooing; inkless if textured or darker)

  • C-section / caesarean scars: Gently blending the scar line so it's less noticeable. (Camouflage tattooing; inkless if textured or darker)

  • Cleft lip and palate scars: Careful, detailed work to reduce the contrast of lip-line scars. (Camouflage tattooing; suitability assessed in person)

  • Acne scars: Helping to reduce the look of textured or uneven areas. (Usually inkless treatment)

  • Arm lift and thigh lift scars: Blending longer scars on the inner arms and thighs into your natural skin tone. (Camouflage tattooing; inkless if textured or darker)

  • Breast lift and breast reduction scars: Softening the visible lines around and beneath the breast. (Camouflage tattooing; inkless if textured or darker)

  • Breast reconstruction and mastectomy scars: Reducing the look of surgical scars, and this can sit alongside 3D areola tattooing. (Camouflage tattooing)

  • Any surgery that leaves a scar: If your scar isn't listed, please still ask. We'll look at it with you and talk through your options.

Raised, indented or coloured scars: For scars that are raised or indented, dark, or red or purple, Melinda starts with inkless camouflage, which uses a DNA repair enzyme instead of pigment. See Inkless and ink camouflage below.

Inkless and ink camouflage: which is right for your scar?

There are two ways we can help reduce the appearance of a scar or stretch mark. Which one you need depends on whether your scar is textured or coloured, or flat and white.

Inkless camouflage

Inkless camouflage is for scars and stretch marks that are raised or indented, dark, or red or purple in colour, such as acne scars and surgical scars. It uses a DNA repair enzyme instead of pigment. It works with your own skin cells to help repair collagen, improve texture and reduce dark colour or pigmentation.

The aim is to soften the texture and colouring so the scar is less noticeable, and to leave a flatter, lighter surface. If it's still needed, that gives us a good base for skin-coloured ink camouflage afterwards.

No long wait to get started. You don't need to wait 3–6 months for a scar to heal before starting inkless, and sessions can be done every 4 weeks.

For your face, too. Inkless is also used on the face to help reduce pore size, tighten skin, and minimise the look of fine lines and wrinkles, sun spots, pigmentation, acne and rosacea.

Ink camouflage

Ink camouflage is for flat white scars only. Melinda tattoos custom-blended, skin-coloured pigment into the scar so it blends in with the skin around it. It isn't used on scars that are raised, indented, dark or red, which is why those start with inkless.

How the two work together

1. Inkless first. If your scar is textured or coloured, we start with inkless sessions every 4 weeks to soften the texture and reduce the colour.

2. Check in. Once the scar is flat and light, we look at it together and decide whether anything more is needed.

3. Ink camouflage, if needed. If the scar is still paler than the skin around it, skin-coloured ink camouflage helps it blend in.

Flat white scars can go straight to ink camouflage.
